Periods: July, 1 - 15 (period A), and July, 15 - 30 (period B)
Place: village Bukovac, city of Valjevo (100 km SW-ward from Belgrade)
Height above sea level: 400 - 600 meters
Surroundings: mountains, hills, woods and pastures, pure nature
Temperature: morning: 15 - 20ºC;, daily: 30 - 35ºC;
Arrival: Belgrade Airport, Rail or Bus station in Belgrade, June, 30 and July, 15
Excursions: 3 (included in participation fee)
Application: All students of anthropological and related disciplines are welcomed. Besides application form,
you need to send CV that shows experience in field work, personal affiliation, interests in archaeology etc.
Capacity: up to 7 foreign students per one period
Official languages: English (options: German and French)
Research, scientific and educational branches of Summer School of Archaeology:
• archaeological excavation,
• field survey methods,
• technical drawing,
• digitalization of the excavation plans,
• photography in archaeology,
• drawing of artifacts,
• work with technical recording devices,
• field survey, map reading, orientation in nature,
• lab work with archaeological material,
• lab work on Paleoenviromental problems: polen analysis,
• lab work on anthropological material: skeletons and burned bones of the deceased,
• basic of conservation of metal artifacts,
• basic of conservation of pottery artifacts,
• various debates, conference-based discussions, workshops.
