PHOTO GALLERY

In july 2004, we organized the second SUMMER SCHOOL OF ARCHAEOLOGY in duration of one month. SSA was continued last year investigations of bronze-age mobile tribe societies on this territory. On our excavation participated more than 40 students of archaeology and talented highschool students from Petnica Science Center, as well as few archaeologists and students from Slovenia, Bulgaria, Macedonia and USA.

Mail goal of this year excavation on site Illyrian graveyard was tumulus from the middle bronze-age period. Excavations provided huge number of archaeological artifacts - 3 prehistoric urns with remains of cremated people, large amount of flint-tool artifacts and animal bones.

Tumulus was made by earth and we suppose that it was family tombstone. The most representative urn was
found in the tumulus center on espetially made soil platform, and it was cover with masive white stone.
Second and third urns were near by the first one, but they were later put in barrow. DNA and C14 analysis
will be taken in 2005, when we hope to get information about apsolute dating, as well as gender and age
of the decased, as also as data about they genetic relations.

We also continued field survey of Golubac and Bukovac Fields when more tumulus graveyards were found.
Also, we found parts of medieval solder equipment - spear, armor and buckle.

Besides this field activities, we have organized office work with ceramic and glass archaeological material,
school of conservation and evening discussions and lectures on various archaeological topics connected to
archaeology of the Balkans.
