SUMMER SCHOOL OF ARCHAEOLOGY 2003
In the summer of 2003, we already organized SSA that lasted 20 days with the aim to start systematic archaeological research of this region. The School was organized as the PSC's summer seminar for the students of the PSC Program of Archaeology. Experts from National Museum in Belgrade and Belgrade City Museum also took part, with students of archaeology from Belgrade University. SSA 2003 had over 35 participants, students of archaeology and talented highschool students from all over Southeastern Europe (Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia Confederation).
In the campaign of 2003, we excavated two tumuli in the 'Ravne Vrtache' site. We have also performed systematic field survey of the surroundings of the site. Besides this field activities, we have organized in our office work with material, school of conservation and evening discussions and lectures on various archaeological topics connected to archaeology of the Balkans.
During the SSA in 2003, we also have performed rescue archaeological excavation of a Medieval graveyard in the canyon of Ribnica river. We have explored a part of cemetery from 16th century, right beside the old monastery church.
